Rustic Lighting - Lamps and Chandeliers for Country Home Decor

Home decor with a rustic theme is very popular for lodges and cabins, plus larger country homes. From hunting lodges in the US, to quaint old country cottages in England, the warmth exuded by the vintage aura of rustic decor is what provides the finishing touch.

An important feature of any interior design is the lighting, and for a cabin, lodge or country cottage, it is no different. In fact, the use of lighting can perhaps set off the interior design more than for any modern city house. This is particularly so on a dark winter's evening, when the lighting may just be a supplement to the warm glow of a log or coal fire.

Whatever type of lighting you choose, you are likely to be able to find a rustic example. Rustic lamps are, fortunately, commonly available. The one on the left is one of a series of wild life lamps, in this case a bronze fish. This would be ideal for a fishing lodge, but is in keeping with any rustic home. It is also superbly made.

For hunting lodge decor lighting there are lamps of bears, elks, moose, deer and duck decoys, all tastefully designed to provide a welcoming return to the lodge after a cold day's hunting.

When it comes to the grander main lighting of a country room, then you can find an impressive range of rustic chandeliers. From pine cone chandeliers (pictured) to rustic pine; from antler chandeliers to deer ring; and from canoe chandeliers to stag heads. If you are looking for a game or wild life rustic theme, then there is likely to be a chandelier to suit your desire, and your lodge or cabin decor.

Wall lights can be an endearing feature of a country lodge or cottage. When I lived in a cottage in East Sussex in England, it's oak pillars and oak framed fireplace were the main features. What set them off nicely were the oak wall lights we found.

Like chandeliers and table lamps, the popularity of rustic lighting means that a good choice of wall lamps is readily available for sale online. The wall sconce pictured above left gives off that homely glow from its fibre metal and resin base, through hand painted and laced lamp shades.
