Garden Waterfall Ideas For Large Gardens
Also: Garden Waterfall, Backyard Waterfalls
For people with a large garden, the scope for having one or more waterfalls is obviously greater, and if you have a large country garden, then it is quite easy to make a waterfall look and feel a natural part of the landscape. However, whatever the location and size of your garden, waterfalls can play a part, and by looking at large natural and artificial waterfall designs, you may get ideas for smaller designs for your own garden.
I have included the picture below because the more you examine it, the more ideas you may get for your own garden waterfall. It is a picture I took in Puerto Princesa in Palawan, in the public gardens of the Provincial Capitol Building. Click through to the larger picture and you will see it is a double waterfall.
This is a very large waterfall for public enjoyment, and even though much of the area around is concrete and paving stones, the waterfall provides, along with other water garden features, a focal point where people sit and relax by the flowing water. The use of natural stone is the main feature, plus the fact that there are two waterfalls.
In this case the plants used are tropical, but you would choose from whatever waterside plants do well in your own country. With careful planting, they can look quite natural, especially with the natural stone. Such a large waterfall does require expertise to build, but you could construct something similar in miniature with some professional help at the design and layout stage; unless of course you feel able to do the whole job yourself.
This second picture is in the same location as the first, and attractively uses antural stone again. This too has some nice ideas, and I chose it to illustrate the water flowing out of a cave, which is an unusual effect for a garden waterfall. That too may stimulate some further ideas for you when it comes to planning you own garden waterfall.
