Garden Waterfalls
While there is no doubt garden fountains are a delight to have as part of your exterior design, I believe the garden waterfall can be an even more attractive feature. All depends, of course, on the design, the quality, the construction and the way it fits in with the overall appearance of the garden.
For me, a natural looking waterfall that just blends in with the garden design is the best to aim for. The incorporation of natural rocks into the waterfall design will definitely enhance the appearance, but care needs to be taken in the placement of rocks to make it look natural. Unless, of course, you are lucky enough to have a garden with rock formations that lend themselves to being the centrepiece of a waterfall.
At this point I will admit to a dream of having a large tropical garden here in the Philippines that will incorporate waterfalls. As I first started to imagine this, as yet, non existent garden, one of the first features that came to mind was the waterfall, or waterfalls. In a land where waterfalls are abundant, the landscape naturally dramatic, and the skills of waterfall design readily available, it is hard to contemplate a large garden without incorporating a water feature of some sort. Maybe not quite as big as the one on the left, but maybe similar in appearance.
That remains a dream for the time being, but when the time comes, I will surely cover the waterfall's construction on this web site. Another thing I am sure of is that I will employ expert help. If you want a garden waterfall of any significant size it really is something for an experienced designer and installer, rather than purely do it yourself. You can save money by doing some of the hard labour yourself, but if you want it to look alright and function efficiently, then input from an expert is likely to improve the end result.
