Using Statuary in a Garden Fountain Pond - Large and Small Angels, Bacchus, and Cherub Fountain Statues
Also: Garden Statues, Garden Fountains, Fountain Pond Statuary

If you plan for a garden fountain with a pond, then it is worth considering having one or more statues to display. Fountain pond statuary is a classic tradition, and can add a delightful extension to your garden decor.
There are a number of factors that dictate the choice of statues to have displayed at the fountain. Taste and budget are, of course, major factors, but size, design of the fountain, and the design of the pond are all to be taken into account.
In the above photograph, for example, the fountain is large, as is the pond, and it is classic in style. In this case a classic statue or statues are appropriate, and that is the choice the designer of the pictured fountain has made. The statue on the top is proportionally small, and looks fine, but this size of fountain could also support a carefully chosen larger statue.

Where and how you place the fountain statuary depends not just on size, but design of both the fountain and its pond. In the above picture the fountain dominates, with a relatively small statue. In the bottom picture, the statuary is large and dominant, with a series of single jet water fountains.

As well as centrally placed statues, you can consider having some statues around the perimeter of the pond, as well as a central display of one or more statues. Another option is to have some statuary in the pond itself, either perched on stepping stones or rising through the water, a practice that needs to be judged well.
The three small pictures shown here all offer ideas of the type of statues that may look good by or on a fountain or fountain pond. The two trumpeting angels are a truly classic design; angels have been amongst the most popular of statues for many centuries. these angels are more than 5 feet tall, but you can easily find smaller angel statues.

The second of the smaller picture (above left) is another classic statue, this time a life size piece of statuary of Bacchus. At over 5 feet tall again, it does require a large fountain pond setting to be displayed in a reasonable perspective.
On a smaller scale, even the cherubs pictured are nearly 3 feet tall, but cherub statues are plentiful, and you can easily find smaller ones for the fountain or pond side.
