Floral Decor For a Vintage and Pretty Home

Fresh flowers can have an important part to play in brightening up the interior of a home, as can indoor plants. For millions of people, though, flowers should be woven into the fabric of their interior design. Such people often opt for floral decor to decorate their homes.

Floral decor has long traditions, although its popularity, like clothing fashion, goes in waves. Floral designs can look good in almost every aspect of interior decorating and furnishing, including floral chandeliers, so long as it they are set against a complementary background. The combination of many different types and colours of floral decor can easily become too much, so a wise mix of floral and plain is the aim, to allow the floral patterns to be show to best effect.

Where to Use Floral Decor Designs

Floral decor has its place in any room of the home. A floral design can be used successfully in wallpaper, or on a wall hanging or picture against a plain wall. It can also be used in upholstery on armchairs and settees, or suites of furniture, curtains and bedding.

Many small accessory items can be found with floral designs, such as tablecloths, placemats, toilet role holders and many others. The important aspect of using floral designs, though, is to keep the overall impression subtle so that individual items of floral decor can be appreciated. Often, a plain backdrop can be good.

Coming from England, and having been a gardener in Endland, I do like to see traditional English country gardens.
