Dog Statues For The Garden
Also: Garden Statues
With dogs being man's best friend, and gardening being one of man's favourite pastimes and creative pursuits, it is inevitable that many will want to find a place in their gardens for dogs. That is not just real dogs, but garden dog statues too.
While a dog statue may not be as much fun and as lovable as a real dog, they are certainly less messy and destructive in the garden. And, if you are going to have statues in the garden and love dogs, why not have a dog statue or two?
Dog statues come in the form of some of the favourite dog breeds, and in their most familiar poses. They also come in many sizes, just like the real animals. The first picture, top left, for example, is of a retriever puppy; a very small puppy, the statue being only 10 inches long. This particular example is made from a concrete aggregate, to make it longer lasting and more resilient. It also comes in a variety of finishes, such as antique, classic, mossy, old stone and sedona.
For something more statuesque and regal looking, the greyhound statue (centre) brings some height to the garden statuary. This outdoor statue stands at about 20 inches, with the dog sitting on its hind quarters, and looking very alert, as greyhounds do.
Like cats, dogs are very good at lazing around in the garden, just watching or sleeping. As the final pose, we have a little terrier sleeping away the summer afternoons. This small concrete outdoor statue will fit in any garden, at a mere 8 inches.
