Asian Bonsai
Asia is the home of bonsai, which originated in Japan and China. A bonsai is a tree in a pot, which sounds quite mundane, but growing bonsai is both an art and a science in expert hands. The results of cultivating a tree in miniature can be very beautiful, which is why bonsai have become very popular not just in Asia, but world wide.

Because of the beauty of bonsai, a bonsai in an attractive pot can be an asset in your home as a distinct part of the decor. The bonsai shown on the left is a Chinese Elm, an old favourite for bonsai cultivation. For display, a simply designed but quality stand can add a nice finishing touch.

The stand shown left is made of rosewood, which adds a touch of quality to the display. be sure to buy a stand that matches the pot that contains the bonsai, otherwise they will distract from the beauty of the bonsai.

In theory, any tree can be grown as a bonsai, but of course some species of tree survive better than others in a small pot. More importantly, there are some trees that do particularly well in pots and can be shaped into the best and most impressive shapes, ultimately to give you a mature and beautiful tree in miniature.
