Decorating Your Home With an Asian Theme

A decision to decorate a room of your home, or the entire home, in an Asian theme brings with it a vast range of options. Asia is a massive continent with many different countries and cultures, some of which date back thousands of years. The influences vary in each Asian country, which can be thousands of miles apart, so their decor and decorating styles can vary quite a lot.

However, Asian decor does have some common threads, such as a richness in texture, abundance of color, and the use of stylish fabrics. Asian Decor can spark the imagination wonderfully, and rooms and homes decorated in an Asian style, if done well, can be a real pleasure to walk in to.

It is probably true to say that most Westerners who think of an Asian theme will be more inclined in their thinking to the Far East, to countries such as Thailand, China and Japan, rather than the Near East in some of the Arab countries. In reality, the decor styles of all the different countries may well be mixed up, with only well traveled people really understanding where the true origin of decorating ideas come from.

So far as the beauty of your home goes, though, true origins do not really matter. it is the overall effect of the interior design which matters most. What may concern you more, though, is the price of authentic Asian products, as they do tend to be a bit more expensive sometimes. However, given that an Asian style can be more minimalist than others, you may not need to buy so much to get that authentic Asian look.

One thing you have to decide is whether you want a full Asian theme throughout the home, or just in selected rooms. Restricting your Asian decor to one or two rooms will surely reduce costs, but is not as effective for your overall interior design. However, such an idea is becoming popular with boutique hotels, which sometimes have an entirely different decor theme for each room including Asian.

One of the best rooms for an Asian theme is the dining room, where the use of imported furniture can be so easily enhanced with accessories such as place mats, tea cups and tea pots, serviettes and cutlery, including of course chopsticks.

Another room you may not have thought of first is the bathroom. Given the relaxing nature of most Asian cultures, and the way most of us like to relax in the bathroom, this could be a cheap way to satisfy your Asian decor inclinations. Using Asian artworks, candles, and figurines with a color scheme made for a tranquil mood, can help to give you many future hours of pleasure relaxing in the bath.

In the bedroom, it is not too difficult to create a romantic mood with the Asian touch. Sparse furnishings can be brought to life by the artistic accessories with an Eastern touch. You can use soft Asian fabrics, rice paper in the windows, scattered candles and other Asian.

Whether you opt for the full Asian look or just choose one or two rooms, I am sure you will be happy with the effect if you find the right decor to fit your needs.
